Team-In-Action! – their bravery to stop and look at what is

We’re a team of former teenagers who have been inspired by the AWAKE teens to make a change in our own lives. Overall, we’re pretty new to sitting and are using their bravery to stop and look at what is, step out of our comfort zone and SIT.

John Leo (Coach): John is a beginner sitter and loves the community aspect of doin’ nuthin’- especially how authenticity shines out all over the place. Thank you SO MUCH, AWAKE teens- for the inspiration and effort! Goal: Full Day

Katy Rubin, (Zamboni): Founding Artistic Director of Theatre of the Oppressed NYC, is a director, actor and circus artist. She is an enthusiastic newcomer to meditation. GOAL: 5 hours.

Maria Wallace (Goalie): Maria’s sidelined because of a knee injury, but she has participated in midwest adn west coast regional sits. Her strengths are her experience, her coordination, and her perseverance. Her weaknesses may include sitting on a chair, being afraid to ask for money, and being camera shy. GOAL: Full Day

Sophie Nimmannit (Left Field): A newcomer to the sport who’s so far only kicked her empty mind around in the park, but never before joined a league. Sophie is a theater performer, creator and facilitator in Brooklyn. GOALS: 6 hours.
